HISTORY OF THE SPOKANE BRAVES
This team originated back in 2007 as the Spokane Snappers under the management of Tommy Destefano. That was a great year for many new players of the league to get their feet wet and adapt to how things went. After a tough summer and fall season we looked foeward to 2008. In 2008 the team decided to choose the Spokane Braves with a more determined attitude. With 90% of the team returning, Tommy D continuing as manager with the assistance of Glenn Goodrich, we knew we had a chance to do some damage in the league. As the season progressed so did our talent, but there was still something holding us back from our true potential. In the middle of the season on Hoopfest weekend some of the players went down to Yakima in a tournament called, "Battle of the Bats." Not only did they go down to have fun and win but they came home as the Champions and Alec Lewis came home as tournament MVP. That helped give our team and extra push towards the playoffs that were soon coming. After winning the first game by a string we fell short to a tough team that went on to play for the league championship. Ending the season tied for 3rd we left the field only to return 2 weeks later for the fall season. Only 5 remaining players continued into fall for a quick 5 week season where we captured 2nd place and what ended the 2008 season. Now as the 2009 season approaches we have many changes to the team starting with new management being led by Chris Baker with the help from K.C. Colby. Also, we have many returning players with a few new players joining with all the same goals which are to win, have fun, and play a sport we all love. As these new changes are occuring we look forward to all the positive situations for this upcoming season, including returning to Yakima to defend our title as Champions and hopefully become champions of the Inland Northwest Men's Baseball League.
